MuseNet, developed by OpenAI, is an advanced deep neural network capable of creating 4-minute musical compositions featuring 10 different instruments and blending various musical styles, from country to classical to rock. This innovative system employs a versatile unsupervised learning approach similar to GPT-2, a large-scale transformer model trained to predict sequential data, whether in the form of audio or text. MuseNet’s training data includes MIDI files, and it generates musical pieces based on a specified style by initiating the process with a prompt. To enhance its contextual understanding, the model incorporates multiple embeddings, including positional, timing, and structural embeddings.
